A Greeting From Rev. Alyse Viggiano

Greetings People of St. Andrew’s,

My name is Alyse Viggiano, and it with tremendous gratitude for the Discernment Committee and Vestry to be called as your next priest-in-charge.  I am thrilled to start this next chapter together, and please know it is the highest privilege of my priesthood to be a part of your lives.

Wherever you are in your faith, wherever you are in your life, I am excited to learn about you, your life at St. Andrew’s, and your hopes for the future of this beloved church.

I am inspired by the Collect for St. Andrew which states, “Almighty God, who gave such grace to your apostle Andrew that he readily obeyed the call of your Son Jesus Christ, and brought his brother with him: Give us, who are called by your holy Word, grace to follow him without delay, and to bring those near to us into his gracious presence.”  Throughout the search process, it was clear that this community embodies this same call, welcoming others in, trusting in God’s grace, and out of such abundance of this love offer your selves, souls, and bodies to be the hands and feet of Christ in the world.  And I cannot wait to join you in this work.

While there is still a bit of time before I officially begin, please imagine that during this period, I am working on my mise en place, preparing my life (and cats) to move, preparing my heart for the goodbyes and the hellos, and finally preparing my mind for the program year ahead.

I ask you keep me in your prayers, and once I settle into the office, come by to say hello and introduce yourself.  Until then, prayers ascending for each and every one of you.

PS. If you’d like to learn a bit about me, see my resume or view the video message I created for the Discernment Committee (be sure to watch till the end):
