Join us online for live-streamed services

During the coronavirus pandemic, we continue to gather for live-streamed worship via Zoom, a web-based platform that enables active participation among all meeting attendees.

See details below for how to prepare yourself and your space, and then how to connect online.

Sundays 10 a.m. / Morning Prayer

Join us for a family prayer service that includes all the elements of our traditional Sunday service except the Eucharist. Our worship on Sunday will be followed by a virtual coffee hour, where you’ll have an opportunity to share concerns, ask questions, and engage with one another directly.

Wednesdays 8:30 p.m. / Compline

Join us for this brief contemplative service of evening prayers, traditionally said before retiring for the night.

How to Prepare

A few “best practices for Zoom worship”:

  • Set up your prayer space. Most aspects of daily life are now based at home. How will worship be different for you than your online work meetings or your video calls with friends or family? Dedicate a space in your home for prayer and worship, and invite all members of the household to help. A few symbolic items to include are:
    • A candle: Always a symbol of God’s presence with us. As you light it, you might say, “We light the candle to remind us that God is with us in this place, at this time.”
    • A cloth—your choice of color.  The point here is to set apart this particular space, to make it special.
    • Scripture: A bible or simply a bible verse written on a card can be read in order to prepare for worship.
    • Cross: The cross symbolizes the death and resurrection of Jesus. It is a symbol of profound love and eternal hope.
  • Attend online as you would in real life. Go through your normal Sunday routine (except for the part where you rush frantically out the door). Get up and get dressed to put yourself in the right mindset for worship. Gather with the rest of your household. Set aside all other activities and devices; worship is not a time for multitasking. Sing along, speak the responses, join in as much as you can. You are muted to the rest of us, but not to God.
  • Invite your friends to church. This is a great opportunity to share the joy and love of St. Andrew’s with others, especially with those who are feeling isolated and alone. All are welcome!
  • Want to help us present our Zoom services? You can help as an online host, recorder, or to update our website. Email Joe Klem to find out more.
